The IISE DFW elections for 2020 are underway! Applicants have submitted their applications, and we are ready to initiate our new leaders for 2020! There were no positions that received 2 or more applicants; therefore, the below candidates will become their respective positions’ elects and will take office beginning January 1st, 2020. Please join us in congratulating your 2020 board!
President: Brian Strevens
I hope that I have had the chance to meet most of you by now but if you don’t know me, I’m Brian, and I am the current President for IISE DFW. In the past 10 months, our chapter has grown from 159 members to 187. Our chapter is also engaged as a pilot program aimed at incorporating virtual members (organized by National) that live too far to be physically designated (within 50 miles) to a chapter. I intend to embrace this new venture should I be elected President again in 2020.
Before I was president, I served as Secretary for this chapter in 2019. My main responsibility in that role was developing this website and maintaining it. Before that, I served as President of the University of Central Florida student chapter during the 2016-2017 school year.
Vice President: Yuan Zhou
I am an Assistant Professor of Industrial, Manufacturing, & Systems Engineering at University of Texas at Arlington. I have more than eight years’ research experience in public health and healthcare delivery related areas, centered around infectious disease modeling and policing, healthcare delivery system, health information technology and data analytics. Her expertise includes complex system modeling, simulation (system dynamics, discrete-event, and agent-based), social network analysis, continuous process improvement, and quality assurance. I have also worked closely with hospitals, primary care physician offices, and home care agencies to develop cost-effective solutions to improve process efficiency, care quality and safety. I have been a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE) since 2013.

Secretary: Tamara Wilhite
I’ve had an ongoing “IE in IT” column for the IISE. My professional experience includes manufacturing planning, development side of R&D, more than ten years in engineering software tech support. Currently working in IT tech support and technical documentation for a variety of clients.
Treasurer: Josie Umoh
Josie is the current treasurer for IISE DFW. Josie also is the most recent Past President.
Membership Chair: Chris Campbell
My name is Chris Campbell and I have been a member of IISE since joining my Freshman year of college in 2005. I am the current Membership Chair for the DFW chapter and have been for the past two years. I work for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics as an Operations Engineer in Fort Worth, prior to that I was an Industrial Engineer in Oil & Gas equipment manufacturing.
Professional Development Chair: Shernette Kydd
Currently serve as Director of Process Improvement at Cook Children’s Healthcare System. Previously served as IISE Professional Development Director, Conference abstract and presentation reviewer, conference presenter. Adjunct professor in the IE department at UTA. Founder of Process Excellence Educational Program at Cook Children’s where undergraduate and graduate students in the DFW can work as an intern at our facility.
Student Affairs Chair: Isaac Villareal
I have been the Secretary of the DFW IISE chapter for 2019. I am also involved with IISE YP and am the current committee lead for the Chapter Involvement and Networking Committee.
